Bits >>> Wicked
Dianne, originally from Standish, scooped a leading role in Wicked and has received mass critical acclaim for her performances as Glinda, The Good Witch of the North.
Wicked, which tells the bizarre unknown story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, has been playing on the nation's premiere entertainment circuit for the last three months with Dianne playing to sell out crowds every night.
Dianne, 32, said: "Every show has been a lot of fun so far with no hiccups – let's just hope that continues."
In the show the beautiful and ambitious Glinda, forms a friendship with Elphaba.
As the play progresses, Glinda the Good's relationship with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz strengthens while Elphaba grows increasingly rebellious towards those around her, earning the title of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Dianne added: "Glinda is a sort of 'Legally Blonde' type of character who goes through quite a journey in the show."
Although she takes an instant dislike to Elphaba, she grows up a bit along the way and becomes good friends with her.
"The original book was written by Gregory Maguire and a lot of its political themes, such as the idea of a
minority being suppressed, are reflected in the play."
Wicked has just entered its second year as one of the West End's most popular and successful musicals, grossing more than ?28m at the box office in a 52-week period.
The London production has already been seen by more than 800,000 theatregoers.
Dianne added: "I've been on stage night after night in front of capacity audiences and I still get butterflies in my stomach before the curtain goes up.
Throughout my career I've never had any reason to consider any other form of performing because I enjoy what I do so much.
If I could act on stage for the rest of my career it would be fantastic."
